This archtop guitar is based on the Gibson L-00, but with the carved top and f-holes reminiscent of their classic L-5 guitars. On this particular guitar the back is flat rather than carved, purely because I had a spectacular piece of reclaimed Tōtara I wanted to use. Bindings are figured Tawhai. The reclaimed Tōtara neck is adjustable with a traditional truss rod and reinforced with carbon fibre.

Frets are stewmac gold for toughness, and tuning machines are Gotoh midsize 510s, which are light and smooth. The tailpiece is hand-cut from 2mm brass and the lightweight adjustable bridge is Tawhai and ebony. Fretmarkers are NZ paua abalone and mother of pearl and it’s topped off with my rabbit logo, which is hand-cut from green-lipped mussel.

Prices start at NZ$3,700
